Hellenic Cables: New project for the offshore wind project BC-Wind in Poland
Hellenic Cables has secured a contract from DEME to supply inter-array cables for the BC-Wind offshore wind project in Poland.
Hellenic Cables recently announced that it has entered into a contract with DEME for the supply of inter-array cables for the BC-Wind offshore wind project, which is being developed in the Baltic Sea approximately 23 km off the coast of Poland. The project, built by Ocean Winds—a consortium made up of EDP Renewables and ENGIE—will feature 26 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of up to 390 MW, expected to provide clean electricity to approximately half a million households annually once operational. Under the contract, Hellenic Cables will design, engineer, manufacture, test, and supply around 70 kilometers of 66kV underwater inter-array cables, which will include spare parts. This endeavor is part of a broader trend in renewable energy development in the region, reflecting the ongoing investment and push towards sustainable energy solutions in Poland and Europe. The cables will be produced at Hellenic Cables' state-of-the-art submarine cable manufacturing facility in Corinth, Greece. This contract not only highlights Hellenic Cables’ capabilities in the renewable energy sector but also reinforces the strategic cooperation between Greece and Poland in advancing offshore wind energy projects, showcasing the importance of international partnerships in addressing the global challenge of climate change.
