Hellenic Cables: New project for the BC-Wind offshore wind project in Poland

Hellenic Cables has secured a contract for the supply of submarine cables for the BC-Wind offshore wind project in Poland, which will significantly contribute to renewable energy production in the region.

Hellenic Cables has been awarded a significant contract by DEME for the supply of inter-array cables for the BC-Wind offshore wind project, which is to be constructed off the coast of Poland in the Baltic Sea. This project, developed by Ocean Winds, a joint venture between EDP Renewables and ENGIE, aims to establish a wind farm that will have a total installed capacity of 390 MW, harnessing energy effectively to supply power to approximately half a million households annually.

The wind farm is set to feature 26 wind turbines, and once operational, it promises to be a key player in providing clean electricity and supporting the broader goals of renewable energy initiatives in the Polish region. Hellenic Cables will be responsible for multiple critical aspects of the project, including the design, engineering, production, and testing of around 70 km of 66kV submarine cables, which are essential for the wind farm's operations.

The production of these cables is slated to occur at Hellenic Cables’ advanced submarine cable manufacturing facility located in Corinth, Greece. This plant’s completion is anticipated by the end of 2027, suggesting a timeline that aligns with the growing demand for renewable energy infrastructure in Europe. The contract symbolizes a strategic step for Hellenic Cables in expanding its footprint in the offshore wind sector, underscoring the importance of technological advancements in energy production, particularly in the wake of rising global emphasis on sustainability and reducing carbon footprints.
