Flames engulf house in Jonava district - parents with 8 minors left homeless during the cold

A family of ten has lost their home in a fire in Jonava district, which may have been caused by electrical wiring issues.

A devastating fire occurred last Sunday in a residential property located in the Jonava district of Lithuania around 5 PM. Preliminary reports suggest that the fire may have started due to a malfunction in the electrical wiring, though investigations are still ongoing. The flames quickly spread throughout the entire wooden one-story house, and by the time firefighters arrived, the home was engulfed in open flames.

Fortunately, the family managed to escape without injury, but they were left to watch their belongings, which included construction materials, furniture, household appliances, and important documents, consumed by the fire. Tragically, the family's pet cat did not survive the incident. The firefighting efforts were further complicated by the need to transport water from a source 17 kilometers away, as the emergency vehicles had run out of water.

In response to the calamity, the local community, municipal authorities, and a charity organization named 'Wings of Goodness' have initiated support and relief efforts for the affected family. The incident has not only left one family without shelter but has also highlighted the immediate need for community support in times of crisis, as the family faces a challenging recovery process during the winter months.
