Hellenic Police on traffic jams in Attica: 'Dynamic and effective' management by the Traffic Police
The Hellenic Police reported that traffic congestion in western Attica was effectively managed during ongoing roadworks on the Attiki Odos.
Traffic congestion continued on Tuesday in the western road network of Attica due to construction work on the Attiki Odos. In a report regarding the previous day, the Hellenic Police stated that by promptly activating an operational plan, swiftly deploying forces on-site, and continuously adapting to actual traffic conditions, the Attica Traffic Division managed the increased traffic load recorded the previous day due to heavy maintenance work in the Liosia tunnel of the Attiki Odos. According to the police, the burden on the western road network was particularly high, as 27,773 vehicles did not enter the Attiki Odos and were redirected to the Athens Avenue and the adjacent road network of Aspropyrgos-Fyli. Simultaneously, 12,775 vehicles entered from the Fyli tolls towards the airport, a number that increased by 4,171 compared to a typical day, while the reopening of the entrance from the Athens-Corinth axis "significantly contributed to the decongestion, absorbing 5,653 vehicles."
