CSDD adjusts registration procedures for several vehicles
The Latvian government approved changes to the registration procedures for bicycles, pedicabs, and electric scooters provided by the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD).
On Tuesday, the Latvian government supported changes proposed by the Ministry of Transport regarding the services pricing list of the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD). These changes aim to align the registration procedures for bicycles, pedicabs, and electric scooters following a new category of vehicles introduced in February this year, which includes self-propelled bicycles that require mandatory registration. The adjustments to the CSDD services list will standardize the registration procedures and set uniform prices for these vehicle categories.
The Ministry specifies that the goal is to streamline the registration process and ensure consistency across similar vehicle types. Under the new regulations, the registration fee for technical data determination and registration at customer service centers will be set at 10.37 euros, including VAT for both electric scooters and bicycles. Additionally, registration through e-services will have standardized pricing, enhancing accessibility and convenience for users looking to register these vehicles.
This move not only simplifies the registration process for consumers but also addresses the growing trend of self-propelled vehicles as they become more popular in urban transport. By setting similar prices for registration services, there is potential for increased compliance with registration laws, contributing to traffic safety and regulation in Latvia. As electric scooters and similar vehicles gain popularity, this legislative update represents an important adaptation of regulations to current transportation trends.
