Gift for Millions of Anganwadi Women in UP, CM Yogi Announces Increase in Honorarium

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, has announced an increase in the honorarium for millions of Anganwadi workers and helpers in the state, acknowledging their economic challenges.

In a significant move for the welfare of Anganwadi workers and helpers in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an increase in their honorarium. This decision comes in response to the ongoing advocacy by media outlets such as 'Aaj Tak', which have highlighted the economic hardships faced by these female workers. The government aims to provide relief to these essential service providers who play a crucial role in child and maternal health care across the state.

Currently, Uttar Pradesh employs 182,113 Anganwadi workers and 128,811 helpers, all of whom are set to receive a pay raise following the Chief Minister's announcement. The state government has already begun necessary procedures to implement this increase, which is expected to bring much-needed financial support to these women. The changes reflect an attempt to improve the economic conditions of these workers who have historically been underpaid despite their significant contributions to society.

As of now, an Anganwadi worker receives a total monthly remuneration of ₹8,000, including honorarium, additional payments, and incentive amounts, while an Anganwadi helper gets ₹4,000 per month. The state government's financial burden for the payment of these honorariums this fiscal year is estimated at ₹1,12,898.61 lakh, highlighting the commitment to support these essential workers. This announcement is seen as a commendable step towards acknowledging the vital role that Anganwadi workers play in community health and welfare.
