On January 17th, during a warm day with temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius, mountain fires occurred in Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk, and Wonju, Gangwon province, South Korea, amidst dry weather conditions. The first fire broke out in Mungyeong at 1:42 PM in a mountainous area, with the cause yet to be determined. Authorities deployed 10 helicopters, 37 firefighting vehicles, and over 110 personnel to combat the blaze, reporting an 80% success rate in extinguishing the fire by 2:40 PM.
