Gyeongju Munmu Daewang-myeon Wildfire Uncontrolled for Second Day... Second National Fire Dispatch Order Issued
A wildfire in Gyeongju's Munmu Daewang-myeon has been raging for two days, prompting the fire authorities to issue a second national dispatch order for firefighting resources.
A wildfire that ignited in the village of Ipcheong-ri in Gyeongju's Munmu Daewang-myeon has proven difficult to control, persisting for a second day. Due to strong winds and dry weather conditions complicating firefighting efforts, the National Fire Agency has issued a second national fire dispatch order to mobilize additional personnel and equipment. The initial dispatch order involved units from five regions, while the second order has mobilized specialist fire-fighting vehicles and additional resources from neighboring cities.
The fire broke out around 9:40 PM on the night of the 7th and has led to extensive emergency response operations throughout the night. As firefighters worked diligently to quell the flames, about 106 local residents were evacuated to community centers and other safe locations as a precaution. Despite the challenging conditions, the fire authorities reported that approximately 85% of the fire had been contained by the morning of the 9th, although strong winds continued to pose a risk of flare-ups.
Fire authorities are focused on continuing their efforts to fully extinguish the wildfire while ensuring the safety of local residents. The situation underscores the ongoing challenges that emergency services face in combating wildfires, especially in regions experiencing adverse weather conditions. The response involves multiple cities and counties, illustrating the regional cooperation necessary in dealing with such disasters.
