The WA government has announced a comprehensive master plan for the redevelopment of the Edith Cowan University (ECU) campus in Mount Lawley, which includes the creation of a creative industries hub, residential areas, and various public amenities. This significant transformation is anticipated to take between 10 to 15 years, coinciding with ECU's recent relocation to the city to foster further urban growth and revitalization.

The proposed redevelopment covers an 18-hectare site and aims to create an urban village just five kilometers from the Central Business District. Components of the project will include between 900 and 1,100 new housing units, a new school, an assortment of retail spaces, and ample green areas designed for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike. This project is expected to enhance the local community by promoting creative industries and improving access to essential services.

In addition to its residential and commercial offerings, the development will emphasize sustainable transport solutions.
