Bandits kill two, burn LG chair’s vehicle in Kaduna attack

Two residents were killed, and the official vehicle of the Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area was burned during a bandit attack in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

The perpetrators were reported to have stormed the Ehwakya area, indiscriminately shooting and creating chaos among the local population. The victims, identified as Bitrus David, aged 25, and Goma Idi, aged 40, were part of the community directly affected by this brazen act of violence.

The attack did not only result in loss of life but also destruction of property, including the burning of multiple vehicles, with the official vehicle of the local government chairman, Dauda Madaki, being among them. Eyewitness accounts highlighted a secondary attack on another location in the area, Dogon-Noma, where mourners had gathered for a funeral. Panic ensued as the gunmen opened fire near the burial site, forcing attendees to flee for safety.

Community leaders have condemned the violence, with the chairman of the Ugom Progressive Union, Onnusim Alhaji Ishaya, calling the incident a tragic event for the community. This attack underscores the ongoing security challenges posed by banditry in Nigeria, particularly in Kaduna State, where such violent incidents have become increasingly frequent, raising concerns about the safety and security of residents.
