Radar on Mogi-Guararema Begins Operations This Tuesday
The speed radar on the Mogi-Guararema highway will start operating with a maximum speed limit of 60 km/h from Tuesday.
A radar has been installed at kilometer 72.3 of the Henrique Eroles highway (SP-066), also known as Mogi-Guararema, which will begin operations at midnight on Tuesday. According to the Departamento de Estradas de Rodagem (DER), the new speed limit is set at 60 kilometers per hour, and violations will result in fines. The radar locations are well marked and specific speed limits are defined for each section of the highway.
The DER has implemented this measure aiming to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents. The placement of each radar is based on a technical mapping that takes into account the history of accidents, speed violations, road characteristics, critical points, and wildlife crossing areas, ensuring targeted enforcement where it is most needed. This initiative is part of a larger contract, identified as edital no. 145/2023, which includes the deployment of 649 radars across more than 12,000 kilometers of state highways.
The introduction of these speed radars signifies a proactive approach to road safety by the authorities in Brazil, responding to an increasing need for traffic management and accident prevention. Providing clear signage and enforcing speed limits serves not just to penalize offenders but also to educate drivers about the importance of adhering to speed regulations, ultimately creating a safer driving environment for all road users.
