New monitoring radars start issuing fines this Monday (2) in Greater João Pessoa
Three new speed monitoring radars have been installed on the BR-230 between João Pessoa and Cabedelo, starting operation on Monday, with speed limits of 50 or 80 km/h.
The Department of National Transport Infrastructure (Dnit) announced the installation of three new speed monitoring radars along the BR-230 highway, specifically aimed at reducing speeding incidents between the cities of João Pessoa and Cabedelo. As of Monday, these devices began functioning, enforcing speed limits of 50 km/h and 80 km/h depending on the specific section of the roadway. The locations for these radars have been carefully designated to maximize their effectiveness in monitoring traffic speed and ensuring safety on the roads.
The newly installed radars are strategically placed at three distinct locations along the highway, with varying speed limits: at km 7.70, vehicles are limited to 80 km/h; at km 8.77, the limit reduces to 50 km/h; and at km 8.90, the speed limit is again set to 80 km/h. Each radar underwent technical feasibility studies prior to installation and has been accompanied by proper educational signage to inform drivers of the speed regulations in place. This initiative reflects a broader push by authorities to enhance traffic safety in the region.
The activation of these speed cameras is expected to have significant implications for driving behavior in the area, as fines begin to be issued to violators. The enforcement of speed limits is crucial not only for individual safety but also for public health, reducing the potential for road accidents. As traffic authorities monitor the impact of this new measure, it will be interesting to assess changes in speed compliance and overall road safety in Greater João Pessoa.
