Land cleaning ends with wooden house destroyed by fire in MT
A wooden house was destroyed by a fire in Sinop, Brazil, after flames spread from a pest-burning operation on Monday.
On Monday, February 16, a fire broke out in a wooden house located in the Brasília neighborhood of Sinop, Brazil, situated 481 km from Cuiabá. The incident reportedly started during a pest control operation when the property owner was attempting to burn unwanted vegetation. Strong winds exacerbated the situation, causing the flames to spread quickly from the vegetation to the wooden structure. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, even though the house, which covered approximately 70 square meters, was primarily constructed from wood, making it particularly vulnerable to fire.
The Military Fire Corps of Mato Grosso (CBMMT) responded to the emergency call at around 1 PM, dispatching two fire vehicles to the scene, one designated for firefighting and the other for rescue operations. Upon arrival, firefighters worked diligently to contain the blaze, ultimately extinguishing the flames successfully. Following the firefighting efforts, the crew performed checks to ensure that no hotspots remained that could reignite the fire, continuously spraying water on still-warm areas.
Despite the extensive damage to the wooden house, the swift response of the CBMMT ensured that no people were harmed during the incident. This event underscores the dangers associated with outdoor burning practices, especially under windy conditions, and raises awareness regarding the importance of safety measures when managing vegetation.
