Police investigates the disappearance of community dogs living in a company parking lot in Paraná

Brazilian police are investigating the disappearance of three community dogs from a parking lot of an e-commerce company, Mercado Livre, in Paraná.

The Civil Police in Brazil is looking into the disappearance of three community dogs that lived in the parking lot of the e-commerce company Mercado Livre in Araucária, located in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. The dogs, who were neutered and had identification microchips implanted under their skin, went missing on January 28. Employees of Mercado Livre noticed the animals' absence and inquired about their whereabouts, but they received no response regarding what had happened to the dogs.

Following the employees' concerns, the police were alerted. Subsequently, it emerged on social media that Mercado Livre claimed the dogs had been taken to an NGO in Fazenda Rio Grande, also within the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. The NGO has confirmed receiving a communication from representatives of Mercado Livre for a possible partnership regarding the care of the dogs, which has led to further scrutiny into the circumstances surrounding the dogs' disappearance.

This incident raises concerns about how community animals are treated, especially in corporate environments. The lack of clarity from Mercado Livre regarding the dogs' fate and their sudden removal from the premises have drawn public attention, highlighting the growing awareness and advocacy for animal rights and welfare in Brazil. As the investigation unfolds, it may have implications for corporate responsibilities towards community animals and their treatment in workplace settings.
