"The human world makes less and less sense to me," says painter Martin Salajka
Czech painter Martin Salajka's exhibition 'Nebula' explores his profound connection to nature and the complexities of life and death, showcased at the Trafo Gallery in Prague.
The exhibition titled 'Nebula' by Czech painter Martin Salajka is currently on display at the Trafo Gallery in Prague until February 22. Salajka's work reflects his deep and ongoing relationship with nature, portraying landscapes as dynamic spaces filled with movement and tension between existence and decay. His paintings emanate a vibrant energy, encompassing elements such as mists, aquatic depths, and dark forests, where reality intertwines with visions and hallucinations.
In a conversation with the exhibition curator, Salajka shares insights into his creative process, highlighting a significant trip to Congo and the personal values that shape his life, including his love for dogs, fishing, heavy music, and silence. He notes that while he has been exploring certain themes for a lifetime, his connection to nature remains at the core of his artistic journey. The dialogue also suggests that while he continues to evolve as an artist, the essence of his work is rooted in his inherent understanding of natural principles that guide his observations and creations in art.
Having exhibited at Trafo Gallery five years ago, Salajka reflects on his artistic evolution since then, indicating an ongoing development of his work. His exhibition not only showcases his talent but also serves as a reflection on the changing perceptions of the world around him, illustrating how deep personal experiences with nature continue to influence his artistry and philosophical outlook on life.
