Three-car collision on highway 8 - five hospitalized
A three-car accident on highway 8 between Kokkola and Vaasa resulted in five individuals being taken to the hospital for evaluation.
On Monday afternoon, a three-car collision occurred on highway 8 between Kokkola and Vaasa around 4 PM. A total of five individuals were involved in the accident, and first responders transported all parties to the hospital for check-ups. Following the incident, one lane of the highway was closed for cleanup, causing some traffic congestion, but alternating traffic was allowed to continue while the area was attended to.
Emergency services left the scene around 5:15 PM, after which normal traffic resumed. According to on-duty fire chief Joakim Toivio, the accident took place near the Elisabet Cemetery on the highway. A total of four rescue units were dispatched to handle the situation, ensuring that all necessary medical assistance was provided and the area was safe for traffic.
The police are currently investigating the causes of the accident to determine what led to the collision.
