Bobsleigh crews are pleased with the achievements on the first day, but everything could still change dramatically

The Latvian bobsleigh team is satisfied with its performance on the first day of competition, having risen to sixth place despite unpredictable track conditions.

The Latvian bobsleigh team, represented by athletes Kalenda and Miknis, expressed their satisfaction with their performance on the first day of competition, where they initially ranked ninth but improved to sixth by the second run. This was achieved despite fierce competition from the leading German teams and a Romanian duo. Their training runs had indicated that they were capable of competing closely with the leaders, and this kept their spirits high as they faced the challenges ahead.

However, the conditions on the track, particularly the upper section, presented significant unpredictability that could affect the teams' standings. Kalenda noted that the upper part of the course is challenging, filled with spots of ice that can push the bobsleigh down, complicating the approach into the curves. This means that the performance outcomes are not guaranteed, adding excitement and uncertainty to the ongoing competition.

Both athletes recognized the impact of their starting position on their results and acknowledged the difficulty posed by the track. They emphasized that every team struggles with the conditions, making the competition engaging. As they look ahead, they remain hopeful, noting that while the first day went well, the next rounds could lead to a complete shift in standings due to the challenging nature of the course.
