Nominees for the Tuglase Short Story Prize Announced

The Tuglase Short Story Prize nominees have recently been announced in conjunction with the upcoming celebration of Friedebert Tuglase's 140th birth anniversary on March 2nd. This prestigious literary award, established by Tuglase in 1971 and organized by the Estonian Writers' Union in partnership with the Estonian Academy of Sciences' Under and Tuglas Literature Centre, is one of the oldest continuously awarded literary prizes in Estonia.
This year, six stories have been nominated based on works published in 2025. The selected nominees are recognized for their exceptional literary contributions and include works by authors such as Kai Aareleid with "Teine," Mehis Heinsaar with "Sisenemised rännakul; Priidel, põld ja õluvõlu," and Maarja Kangro with "Viimane tango Kiievis," among others. The jury, which includes Iris Eelmaa, Piret Jaaks, Kadri Kõusaar, Ülar Ploom, and Paul Raud, highlighted these stories for their artistic depth and originality.
