Hyundai – Michelin: Innovations in Tire Technology
Hyundai Motor Group has signed a third memorandum of understanding with Michelin aimed at accelerating innovations in tire technology for future mobility.
Hyundai Motor Group has recently entered into a third memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Michelin to further advance tire technology innovations that will shape the future mobility market. This new agreement builds upon the partnership established by previous MOUs in 2017 and 2022, showcasing a continued commitment to collaborative development between these two industry leaders.
Within the framework of this new three-year partnership, Hyundai and Michelin plan to focus on several key areas including joint research and development of ultra-low rolling resistance tires aimed at improving fuel efficiency, as well as high-performance tires that enhance safety in handling. They also intend to boost the performance of premium electric vehicle (EV) tires, which demand advanced high-performance technology for enhanced safety and increased range. Moreover, the partnership will explore the creation of a virtual tire development system for off-road applications and promote the SmartGrip technology, which aims to improve braking performance and efficiency.
This collaboration is crucial as it responds to the growing demands for sustainable and efficient technologies in the automotive industry, particularly with the rise of electric vehicles. As environmental considerations take precedence in automotive engineering, partnerships like this between Hyundai and Michelin signify a strategic effort to not only innovate but also adapt to the evolving landscape of mobility, ultimately addressing the needs of consumers and the planet alike.
