Workers Victimized by Crime at Stegra Reportedly Forced to Leave the Country
Four workers at Stegra's steel plant in Boden were allegedly removed from their jobs and forced to leave Sweden following a violent incident.
Four workers employed at Stegra's steel plant in Boden were reportedly injured during a suspected knife attack at the companyβs housing facility. After this incident, they were allegedly informed by Stegra that they could no longer keep their jobs in Sweden. Linda Sarja, the legal representative for the men affected, claims that the company did not provide any response about their involvement in sending the men back to their home country.
The violent incident occurred on December 6 of the previous year, where witnesses reported blood stains on the walls and doors of the accommodation where the workers stayed. Following the disturbance, a suspect in his 30s was apprehended at the scene, and several individuals required hospital treatment for their injuries. Sarja stated that all injured parties sustained injuries that necessitated follow-up care, with some still in contact with healthcare providers.
The suspect faces serious charges, including attempted murder and multiple counts of aggravated assault, and remains in custody. This situation raises serious questions about worker safety and corporate responsibility in Sweden, especially in relation to foreign workers who may be vulnerable to exploitation and violence in the workplace.
