On February 17, Milan will become a hub of Chinese culture as it celebrates the Chinese New Year, a significant event in China also known as the Spring Festival. This year's celebration marks the transition from the Year of the Wooden Snake to the Year of the Fire Horse, which symbolizes energy, change, and movement. Various local restaurants will offer special menus to commemorate this festive occasion, showcasing dishes that reinterpret traditional symbols of prosperity and fortune. One highlighted establishment is Ba Restaurant, which will serve a dedicated menu from February 16 to March 3, featuring a plethora of dishes including marinated amberjack, various dim sum, hand-pulled Lamian with lobster, and caramelized Iberian pluma. The meal will culminate with a dessert by renowned pastry chef Ernst Knam, all for a price of 128 euros excluding wine pairings. This feast reflects the culinary creativity surrounding the celebration and offers a taste of Chinese traditions in an Italian setting. Additionally, the Mandarin Oriental hotel is preparing an immersive evening event dedicated to the Chinese New Year, enhancing the cultural experience in Milan.
