Angola: Angola to Waive Visa for Nigerians With Diplomatic, Official Passports
Nigeria and Angola have signed a bilateral agreement to waive visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and official passports.
Nigeria and Angola have entered into a bilateral agreement aimed at waiving visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and official passports. Announced by Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson for Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this agreement was signed on February 15, 2026, during the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The signing was carried out by Nigeria's Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and Angola's Minister of External Relations, Ambassador Tete Antonio.
The newly established visa waiver is anticipated to facilitate official business between the two nations by eliminating administrative hurdles that impede the travel of government officials. This agreement is part of a larger strategy to enhance mobility and cooperation among African countries, striving to reinforce institutional relationships and expand diplomatic engagement across the continent.
By removing visa requirements for diplomatic and official travelers, Angola and Nigeria are aligning themselves with broader continental initiatives designed to foster closer ties and greater collaboration among African nations. Such agreements not only simplify travel for government representatives but also contribute positively to the bilateral relations between Nigeria and Angola, paving the way for enhanced diplomatic and economic partnerships in the future.
