Opera Soloist and Educator Lilija Greidāne Has Passed Away
The renowned opera singer and vocal educator Lilija Greidāne has died, as reported by the Latvian National Opera and Ballet.
Lilija Greidāne, a distinguished opera singer and vocal educator, has passed away, marking a significant loss to the Latvian music community. Born on November 14, 1944, she dedicated over 30 years of her artistic life to the Latvian National Opera, where she was celebrated for her unique vocal timbre, stage charm, and her ability to express the essence of every character she portrayed in both leading and supporting roles. Greidāne's repertoire included over 30 roles, featuring characters such as Mimī, Lelde, Adriāna Lekuvrēra, Mikaēla, Dezdemona, Laimdota, donna Anna, and Elizabete, and she also performed in vocal symphonic works and chamber music.
