China-based Nigerian, two Angolans excrete 236 cocaine wraps at Abuja, Kano airports

Three individuals, including a Nigerian and two Angolans, were arrested at Nigerian airports for trafficking cocaine, excreting a total of 236 wraps of the drug after their arrests.

A Chinese-based Nigerian businessman, identified as Ibeanu Chukwudulue, and two Angolan nationals were apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at two major Nigerian airports for drug trafficking. The arrests took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport. Ibeanu was traveling on a flight from Kano to China, with a stopover in Abuja, where he was deboarded based on credible intelligence indicating potential drug trafficking.

Upon being deboarded in Abuja, NDLEA operatives conducted a body scan on Ibeanu, which confirmed that he had ingested illegal drugs. Over the course of his observation, he excreted a total of 52 pellets of cocaine, weighing approximately 735.95 grams. The operation highlights ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to combat drug trafficking, particularly in the context of international networks exploiting local routes for smuggling activities.

The apprehension of Ibeanu and the Angolan nationals underscores the need for stricter monitoring at Nigerian airports, especially given the increasing trend of cross-border drug trafficking. The NDLEA's proactive approach to leveraging intelligence against suspected traffickers is a crucial step in disrupting the activities of drug cartels that often target vulnerable individuals to carry illicit substances across borders.
