Ikwuakalom Nwakoro Emeka, a 74-year-old man, was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja for allegedly trying to smuggle 11 kilograms of cocaine to the UK. The drugs were found concealed within food items in his luggage while he was preparing to board a British Airways flight to London.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reported that their operatives discovered the cocaine, which was wrapped in foil papers and balloons, among other items, including ground dry pepper. This incident raises concern about the involvement of older individuals in drug trafficking, highlighting a disturbing trend where even senior citizens might become entangled in illegal activities.
