Latvian biathletes face 17 penalty laps; Ponsiluoma wins Olympic gold in pursuit

In the Olympic biathlon pursuit race held in Milan and Cortina, Andrejs Rastorgujevs represented Latvia, finishing in 29th place while Rihards Lozbers took 47th, and Edgars Mise did not finish after being lapped. The gold medal was awarded to Swedish biathlete Martin Ponsiluoma, who, despite making one shooting error, completed the race in an impressive time of 31 minutes and 11.9 seconds.
