Latvian biathletes participate in the pursuit event at the final stage of the World Cup, with notable performances from Lozbers, Rastorgujevs, and Birkentāls.
Three Latvian biathletes, Lozbers, Rastorgujevs, and Birkentāls, are competing in the pursuit event at the final stage of the World Cup. The competition started with Lozbers beginning from 21st place, a minute and 31 seconds behind the leader, Sturla Holm Lægreid from Norway. Rastorgujevs kicked off from 37th place, while Birkentāls rounded out the top 50 at the start.
During the first shooting round, Lægreid maintained his lead with perfect shots, edging ahead of teammate Érik Perrot by half a second. Lozbers struggled with two mistakes in his shooting, which dropped him to 36th position after incurring two penalties due to missed targets. In contrast, Rastorgujevs managed to hit all his targets quickly in his opening round, moving up to 31st position after shooting.
In the second shooting round, both Pero and Lægreid continued their flawless performance, with Pero returning to the track first. Rastorgujevs followed suit with another unblemished shooting round, climbing to 28th place. Lozbers and Birkentāls also shot without errors, with Lozbers just behind the top 30 and Birkentāls improving to 46th place. This competition highlights the tenacity and skills of the Latvian team as they strive for improved standings in the World Cup series.
