The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, released a statement clarifying that the incident took place near the finish line of the marathon. The ambulance was engaged in transporting athletes who required medical attention when the unfortunate accident transpired.

Following the collision, emergency responders promptly attended to the woman at the scene, who reported sustained bruises and chest pains. She was quickly transferred to a public health facility where she received further evaluation. Authorities confirmed that while she had experienced distress from the incident, her condition was stabilised, and vital signs were reported to be normal.
