Two residences on fire
A fire broke out in a duplex in Fredrikstad, Norway, leading to the evacuation of three people and a dog, with smoke affecting the area and an investigation into possible fireworks-related causes.
In the early hours of Tuesday in Fredrikstad, Norway, a fire erupted in a duplex, prompting the urgent evacuation of three residents and a dog. The fire quickly spread to a garage, although the local fire department successfully prevented it from affecting the other half of the duplex. Emergency services advised residents in the vicinity to keep their doors and windows shut due to heavy smoke in the area.
According to Atle Vesttorp, operations leader for Γst politidistrikt, there was a report of fireworks being launched nearby at the time of the fire, but it remains unclear if there is a direct connection. Authorities are investigating this potential link, asking any witnesses to come forward with information. There were no immediate details on the person responsible for setting off the fireworks.
Around the same time, another fire broke out in a residential building in Trondheim, which resulted in the evacuation of nine individuals and required health services to attend to them. That building was completely engulfed in flames; however, firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent homes, highlighting the ongoing risks and challenges faced by emergency services during such incidents.
