Parking Attendants Taken to Police Station for Irregular Action in Cabo Frio
Parking attendants in Cabo Frio were taken to a police station due to suspected irregular charging for vehicle monitoring.
In Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro, a group of parking attendants, commonly known as 'flanelinhas', were taken to the police station after a municipal guard intervention. The action occurred on Friday following a complaint about improper charging for monitoring parked vehicles. The Municipal Guard's Ostensive Patrol teams responded to the operational control center's call to check the situation in the Passagem neighborhood.
Upon arrival, authorities found five individuals engaged in a discussion about the management of parking spaces and how to divide the income they collected from drivers. Despite the ongoing discussion, no illegal material was discovered; however, the suspects did not have identification documents with them. To address this, the Operational Beach Group was called in to escort the individuals to the local police station, where the case was subsequently registered for further investigation.
This incident raises concerns about the informal parking sector in Cabo Frio, as it underscores issues related to unauthorized charging practices by street parking attendants. Local authorities are likely to face increased scrutiny regarding their regulatory measures for informal parking operations, as similar complaints may arise in the future, prompting further investigation and potential reforms in this area of urban management.
