In Petroupoli, Greece, two con artists were apprehended by the police after successfully deceiving an elderly woman into believing there was an issue with her electricity supply. They persuaded her to place jewelry worth approximately 7,000 euros in a basin outside her door, which they then stole. The duo fled the scene in a car, prompting an immediate police response.
The police action was swift and organized, with officers from the DIAS team conducting targeted searches. They managed to locate the suspect's vehicle in Kamatero soon after the theft. When the driver noticed the police, he accelerated in an attempt to escape, leading to a high-speed chase that brought the situation to the attention of the Immediate Action center.
Eventually, the vehicle of the suspects was immobilized by the police, resulting in their arrest. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of scams targeting vulnerable individuals, particularly the elderly, and the effective response of law enforcement in addressing such crimes promptly.
