Alpine skier Opmanis in 48th place after the first run of the Olympic giant slalom

In the first run of the Olympic giant slalom, the leader is Brazilian skier Lucas Pinheiro Brathens, who finished in 1 minute and 13.92 seconds, with three Swiss athletes trailing him, including Marco Odermatt, who is 0.95 seconds behind. Latvian skier Elvis Opmanis, who competed with bib number 60, completed his run in 1 minute and 24.90 seconds, placing him 48th among 77 finishers. Additionally, eight athletes failed to finish the race.
This competition marks Opmanis's third appearance at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. Previously, he secured a 32nd place in the downhill event and a 35th place in the super-G, showcasing his ongoing participation and effort at these Olympics, despite the challenges posed by the level of competition.
