Elvis Opmanis, the Latvian alpine skier, competed in the super-G at the Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo Olympics and achieved a 35th place finish among 42 athletes. He completed the race significantly behind the champion, Swiss skier Franjo von Allmens, who claimed victory with a time of 1:25.32, marking his third gold medal of the Olympics after earlier wins in downhill and combined events.
In the super-G event, the silver medal was awarded to American skier Ryan Cochran-Siegle, who finished just 0.13 seconds behind von Allmens, while another Swiss skier, Marco Odermatt, took home the bronze with a 0.28 seconds deficit. Opmanis' time was 6.73 seconds slower than the winning time, showcasing the fierce competition at the Olympic level. Only 37 out of the 42 participants were able to complete the course.
This was Opmanis' second event in his first Olympic Games, having previously placed 32nd in the downhill competition.
