Paraíba has four beach sections unsuitable for swimming during Carnival; see which ones are

Four beach sections in Paraíba, Brazil, are deemed unsuitable for swimming during the Carnival weekend, as reported by the environmental administration.

In Paraíba, Brazil, a report from the Superintendence of Environmental Administration (Sudema) has indicated that four sections of beaches in João Pessoa are unsuitable for swimming during the Carnival weekend. The affected areas include beaches at Penha, Seixas, between Jacarapé and Arraial Sol, and between Tambaú and Manaíra. The assessment of water quality was conducted from February 9 to 11 and is valid until February 20, when the next report will be released.

The classification of areas as unsuitable for swimming applies to a specific zone, defined as 100 meters to the right and left of the sampling point. This means that while specific sections of the mentioned beaches are not safe for swimmers, the rest of the beaches remain open for use unless future tests indicate otherwise. The Sudema has advised the public to take caution and pay attention to the designated unsafe zones.

This announcement comes during a busy holiday period in Brazil, where Carnival festivities attract large numbers of beachgoers. It highlights the importance of maintaining public health and safety standards at popular tourist destinations, particularly during high-traffic periods. Authorities are expected to monitor the water quality closely and keep the public informed about any changes that may affect swimming conditions in the future.
