Four beach segments are unfit for bathing this weekend in Paraíba; check which ones
Four beach areas in Paraíba have been deemed unfit for swimming this weekend, according to a recent water quality report.
This weekend, four beach segments in Paraíba have been classified as unfit for bathing, according to a report from Sudema, Brazil's environmental agency. This report, based on water samples collected between March 13 and March 19, highlights three affected areas in João Pessoa and one in Pitimbú. Notably, the contamination classification only applies to designated zones extending 100 meters from the sampling points, with the remaining areas of these beaches still safe for swimming until new assessments are made. In João Pessoa, the affected beach areas include Tambaú, located at the end of Avenida Sen. Ruy Carneiro; Jacarapé, in front of Rua Manoel Cândido Soares; and Praia do Sol, located at Rua Francisca Edite Fernandes Moreira. In addition, the only identified problematic area in Pitimbú is Maceió, at the front of certain avenues. The Sudema report is significant for local beachgoers as it provides crucial health information regarding water quality and safety for recreational activities. The classification of these beach areas underscores the importance of ongoing environmental monitoring in Brazil, particularly as tourism continues to thrive along the coast. Residents and visitors are advised to follow these reports diligently, ensuring informed choices about where to swim or participate in beach activities. With the next report set for March 27, the coastal community remains attentive to updates that may impact their weekend plans and overall beach safety.
