Prime Minister Modi arrives in Dibrugarh, marking the first landing of the PM's aircraft on a national highway
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Dibrugarh, Assam, where his aircraft became the first to land on a national highway due to a newly constructed emergency landing facility.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Dibrugarh, Assam, initiating his trip with a significant event as his aircraft landed for the first time on a national highway. The aircraft's landing at the newly constructed Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on Moran Bypass highlights India's advancements in emergency response options, particularly in the northeastern region. This facility is poised to serve as a game-changer for the Indian Air Force, especially in scenarios involving warfare or natural disasters.
During his visit, Modi is expected to inaugurate the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, a monumental bridge spanning the Brahmaputra River, which has cost ₹3,030 crores to construct. With its six lanes, it is the first 'extradosed' bridge in the northeast, transforming travel time between Guwahati and North Guwahati from hours to just seven minutes. The bridge integrates earthquake-resistant technology alongside a real-time health monitoring system, enhancing safety and efficiency in transportation within the region.
Additionally, Modi will inaugurate IIM Guwahati, which is set to elevate the standards of higher education in the area. Such infrastructural developments and educational initiatives not only aim to bolster the northeast's connectivity and economic framework but are also pivotal in promoting growth and development in this strategically important region of India.
