SP President says São Paulo may create new block circuits in 2027 after overcrowding of megablocks
The president of SPTuris announced plans for new carnival block circuits in São Paulo by 2027 to address overcrowding.
Gustavo Pires, the president of SPTuris, announced on Friday that the São Paulo City Hall is considering the establishment of new carnival block circuits starting in 2027. This decision comes in response to the growing number of revelers attending the city's street carnival, particularly highlighted by the recent overcrowding incidents at major events featuring artists like Ivete Sangalo and DJ Calvin Harris. A study commissioned by the city and conducted by a foundation linked to the Polytechnic School of USP indicated that key locations, such as Rua da Consolação and Ibirapuera Park, can accommodate only 365,000 and 290,000 participants respectively.
