ANT enables registration of new vehicles in Manta and Machala

The National Transit Agency (ANT) has resumed the registration of new vehicles in Manta and Machala as part of its gradual service reactivation across Ecuador.

The National Transit Agency (ANT) announced that starting from Friday, February 13, 2026, the system for registering new vehicles will be operational in the cantons of Manta and Machala. This initiative is part of a broader effort to progressively reactivate services on a national scale, emphasizing the agency's commitment to restoring services in an orderly and secure manner.

The decision to resume vehicle registration services comes after a temporary suspension that began on January 30, following an investigation by the Attorney General's Office and the National Police regarding alleged organized crime activities. The suspension of services aimed to facilitate the investigation but has since raised concern among residents seeking timely vehicle registration.

The ANT has also reported that similar services have been reinstated in Quito and Guayaquil recently, as part of their initiative to resume operations across the country. The agency emphasized its ongoing efforts to ensure efficient and transparent services, reiterating a strict 'zero tolerance' policy towards potential corruption or malpractice within its operations.
