Campos do Jordão conducts alert siren test for landslide risk this Saturday (14)

Campos do Jordão will conduct an emergency drill to test the remote alert system for landslide risks in the Britador neighborhood on Saturday.

On Saturday, Campos do Jordão will perform an emergency drill to evaluate the effectiveness of the Remote Alert System (SISAR) designed to warn residents of potential landslide risks. The test will take place in the Britador neighborhood, where new alert sirens have been installed. The municipal administration has scheduled the siren test for 10 a.m., when the siren will be activated remotely by Civil Defense to issue an audio alert, instructing residents to evacuate their homes to designated safe areas.

The designated safe location for this drill will be the Municipal School Monsenhor José Vita, located on Jacareí Street in the nearby Vila Ferraz neighborhood. Local emergency response teams from various municipal departments including Health, Government, Education, and Social Development will be present to assist participants during the evacuation process. This initiative underscores the city’s proactive measures in ensuring the safety of its residents against natural disasters like landslides, especially in terms of preparedness and community awareness.

The test not only helps to assess the technical functionality of the alert system but also aims to educate residents about emergency protocols. As Campos do Jordão is susceptible to such geological hazards, this drill serves as an important reminder of the necessity for readiness among the community members. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance disaster preparedness in regions prone to landslides, emphasizing the significance of timely alerts and organized evacuations in safeguarding lives.
