CPMI of INSS requests the new rapporteur of Master to return confidential data of Vorcaro
The CPMI of INSS has formally requested the new rapporteur, Minister André Mendonça, to return confidential documents related to Banco Master and its owner, Daniel Vorcaro, amidst ongoing investigations.
The president of the CPMI of INSS, Carlos Viana, has taken action by sending a formal request to Minister André Mendonça, the new rapporteur for the ongoing inquiry into Banco Master. This request focuses on retrieving confidential documents that were previously released regarding the bank and its owner, Daniel Vorcaro. The CPMI is seeking the return of these documents, which it believes are crucial for its investigations into the allegations surrounding Vorcaro and the bank's operations.
The context sheds light on the previous handling of these documents, which were first collected by the former rapporteur, Minister Dias Toffoli. Upon receiving the documentation, Toffoli ruled that they should be kept under the jurisdiction of Davi Alcolumbre, the president of Congress. This administrative decision left the CPMI frustrated, as they had previously requested the return of the documents, only to receive a response indicating that they could only be returned after the conclusion of the Federal Police's investigations. This response added obstacles to the CPMI's efforts to understand the intricacies of the case against Vorcaro.
With Mendonça now in the position of rapporteur, Viana expresses hope for a more favorable response that could facilitate the commission's investigation. The return of these confidential documents could provide necessary insights and enable the CPMI to proceed effectively with its inquiries. The situation underscores the ongoing dynamics in Brazilian politics concerning accountability and the scrutiny of financial institutions, reflecting broader themes of governance and oversight in light of past and present allegations against powerful magnates like Vorcaro.
