LNSO Announces 100th Anniversary Concert Cycle and Autumn Subscription

The Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) is planning a grand program to celebrate its 100th anniversary in the fall of 2026.

The Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) is set to celebrate its 100th anniversary with a significant concert cycle during the summer and autumn of 2026. Originally founded in 1926 as the Riga Radio Symphony Orchestra, LNSO has evolved into a national cultural institution, renowned for bringing together talented musicians, conductors, and soloists, and representing Latvia on both local and international stages.

The anniversary celebrations will commence in early August with a concert performance of Richard Wagner's opera "Lohengrin" under the direction of conductor Tarmo Peltokoski, in collaboration with the Cēsis Art Festival and the Cēsis Concert Hall. In addition to local festivities, LNSO plans a series of concerts in France alongside the State Academic Choir "Latvia" (VAK "Latvija"), as well as prominent symphonic music performances and their traditional festival "LNSO Summer House" to be held at the Latgale Embassy “Gors”. These events will not only honor the orchestra's storied history but also its role in promoting cultural exchange and excellence in the arts.

The concert cycle will culminate on October 25, 2026, marking a significant milestone for the LNSO and an opportunity for audiences to celebrate a century of musical heritage and innovation. As LNSO continues to grow and engage with its community, this anniversary will serve as a reminder of its impact on Latvia's cultural landscape and its commitment to the higher echelons of orchestral performance.
