On Friday, Latvia experienced a significant snowfall that increased snow cover by 10 to 14 centimeters across the country. An active cyclone is responsible for these conditions, also impacting neighboring Lithuania, where snowfall has been noted to be even heavier. The director of the Climate and Forecasting Department of the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center, Kristiāns Pāps, noted that such a winter storm is not extraordinary, although it is not expected to happen every week during winter.
