The company Ambipar, which is responsible for urban cleaning in Fernando de Noronha, has been fined R$ 700,000 by the State Environment Agency (CPRH) after a fiscal inspection uncovered irregular waste storage on the island. This penalty was issued following concerns about the company’s performance in managing waste, which has been visibly accumulating at the Solid Waste Screening Unit (UTRS). The CPRH has mandated immediate and gradual measures to remove the accumulated trash within the island.
