High demand at restaurants before Valentine's Day - tables for two dominate

Several restaurants in Södermanland County are reporting high booking rates for Valentine's Day, primarily for two-person tables.

As Valentine's Day approaches, restaurants across Södermanland County, including those in Eskilstuna, Mariefred, Katrineholm, and Nyköping, are experiencing a surge in reservations, with many locations reporting that they are nearly fully booked. Notably, at Rakstugan in Mariefred, almost all bookings are for two individuals, indicating a marked decline in larger group reservations typically seen on such occasions. This trend reflects an increased focus on romantic dinners for couples as the holiday draws near.

Dufweholms Herrgård in Katrineholm also notes a rise in demand surrounding this themed holiday, though they have not reached full capacity. Manager Louise von Bahr Rogstedt mentions that while most bookings are from couples, smaller family groups are also making reservations, aligning with the nature of Valentine's Day. The popular venue in Nyköping, Voyage, mirrors this trend, as it too sees a predominance of two-person bookings, highlighting a collective social inclination towards intimate dining experiences during this festive period.

In contrast, restaurants in Eskilstuna, such as Kalas and Vinäger, are already fully booked, while Pitchers is taking a different approach by organizing a 'Singles & Mingles' night featuring a DJ, dance floor, troubadour, and karaoke. Sebastian Andersson, in charge of the event, notes that there is an increasing number of patrons looking to celebrate Valentine's Day creatively, emphasizing a fun and festive atmosphere in lieu of traditional romantic dining. Hotel manager Fredrik Eklund has also encouraged residents in Eskilstuna to take care of one another, embodying a broader community spirit beyond romantic partnerships during this season.
