"Swedbank": Calls for technical assistance increased by 74% in January
In January, technical assistance calls surged by 74%, attributed primarily to cold weather conditions, leading to a rise in insurance claims related to both automotive and housing incidents.
In January, reports from "Swedbank" indicate a dramatic increase in technical assistance calls, which have risen by 74% compared to the same period last year. This surge is largely attributed to the harsh winter weather affecting additional risk factors in both vehicle and home insurance claims. Notably, the number of fire-related insurance incidents in homes saw an increase of 2.3 times from January of the previous year.
The primary reason for the technical assistance calls on the road has been related to difficulties in starting vehicles, predominantly due to battery issues caused by low temperatures. As heating systems work harder to maintain warmth during the cold spells, the risk of fire incidents in homes has also escalated significantly, contributing to the increase in claims.
Additionally, "Swedbank" reported receiving twice as many emergency assistance calls for home accidents in January compared to the previous year. These findings underscore how extreme weather conditions can impact safety and insurance trends, prompting the need for heightened awareness and preparedness during winter months.
