Record increase in hotel stays in Lolland and Falster

Last year, Lolland and Guldborgsund municipalities in Denmark saw a 34% increase in hotel stays due to the addition of more hotel rooms.

In a significant tourism boost, Lolland and Guldborgsund municipalities recorded 45,000 more hotel stays in the last year compared to the previous one, marking an impressive 34% increase. This surge in hotel activity is primarily attributed to the increase in available hotel rooms in the region, as highlighted by Lindy Kjøller, the destination manager at Visit Lolland-Falster.

Kjøller emphasized the importance of this increase in overnight stays, linking it directly to job creation and potential for population growth in the area. With a rise from 131,671 overnight stays in 2024 to 176,427 in 2025, the growth is not just a testament to the improved hospitality infrastructure but also reflects a positive trend in local economic development. The improvement in tourism is seen as a vital factor in fostering a thriving community on Lolland and Falster.

Ultimately, the rise in hotel stays represents more than just tourism; it indicates a broader economic opportunity for the two municipalities. As Kjøller notes, creating more jobs directly influences the attractiveness of the region for potential residents and businesses, suggesting that continued investment in tourism infrastructure could lead to sustained growth for Lolland and Falster.
