The tire of a truck driving on the Via Baltica caught fire

A truck caught fire on the A8 road in Lithuania, but the driver successfully extinguished the fire without needing additional assistance.

During the night near Truskava, a truck was reported to be on fire on the A8 Panevėžys–Kaunas road. The emergency services received a call at 00:58 regarding the incident and were dispatched immediately. Upon arrival, it was found that the situation had already been addressed by the driver, who managed to extinguish the flames on his own.

The fire was caused by the explosion of a tire on a Volvo FH 460 truck, resulting in some damage to the tire, the rim, and a portion of the body nearby. Thankfully, there were no major losses or traffic disruptions as a result of the incident. This quick response from the driver avoided a potentially larger emergency.

Authorities have issued a reminder emphasizing the importance of maintaining vehicle safety. They encourage drivers to perform regular inspections of their vehicles and to promptly address any technical issues, as even minor malfunctions can pose significant risks on the road.
