On Thursday, October 12, the Military Police of Mossoró conducted a significant operation in the Jucuri settlement, seizing around 300 kilograms of marijuana and four homemade firearms. The operation was prompted by a tip-off that a suspect was reportedly armed and threatening locals along the BR-405. Upon the police's arrival, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended shortly after.

During the police operation, officers discovered 20 large packages of marijuana, each containing approximately 30 smaller bags weighing around half a kilogram each. Additionally, police found a stolen motorcycle that was reported taken in the nearby town of Governador Dix-Sept Rosado in 2025. The seizure highlights ongoing issues with drug trafficking and violence in rural areas of Brazil, underscoring the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating such crimes.

The suspect, who remains in custody, was transferred along with the confiscated materials to the Specialized Narcotics Police Department.
