Caraguatatuba announces new company for urban cleaning after contract termination and emergency decree
The municipality of Caraguatatuba has appointed a new company for urban cleaning services following a declared state of environmental and sanitary calamity and the unilateral cancellation of the previous contract.
On the evening of Thursday, October 12, the Caraguatatuba City Hall announced the selection of a new company, Molise Serviços e Construções Ltda., to provide emergency urban cleaning services. This decision comes after the city declared a state of environmental and sanitary calamity and terminated the previous service contract due to irregularities in its execution. The new company is expected to hire staff and begin operations immediately, with activities set to commence on Friday, October 13.
The emergency contracting process involved the evaluation of ten companies, and Molise was selected for meeting all necessary criteria outlined in the Terms of Reference. The urgency of the situation was underscored by the emergency decree published in the Official Gazette on Wednesday, October 11, following concerns about the city's waste management and environmental health.
The unilateral termination of the previous contract was characterized by the municipal administration as an exceptional administrative measure, highlighting the importance of proper execution of public services. This move aims to restore sanitary conditions in Caraguatatuba, emphasizing the city’s commitment to addressing pressing environmental issues swiftly and effectively.
