"No Means No!": Poços de Caldas strengthens campaign against harassment during Carnival
Poços de Caldas is reinforcing its "No Means No" campaign to combat sexual harassment and violence against women during Carnival, a time when such incidents typically rise.
The city of Poços de Caldas is once again promoting its "No Means No – Carnival Without Harassment" campaign, aimed at addressing sexual harassment and violence against women during the Carnival festivities. This initiative is particularly important as the Carnival period often sees a spike in reported cases of such incidents. The campaign encourages individuals to speak out against these crimes and supports the idea that women should feel safe celebrating without fear of harassment.
Scheduled from February 13 to 17, teams will be actively present in crowded areas to provide guidance and raise awareness among carnival-goers. The planned activities include distributing informative pamphlets and temporary tattoos that emphasize the importance of respect and consent. These efforts are designed to engage the public in an accessible manner, ensuring the message resonates during a time when many are celebrating and enjoying the festivities.
Implemented by the Municipal Secretary of Social Assistance, this campaign collaborates with the Specialized Police Station for Women's Assistance, the Military Police of Minas Gerais, and the Municipal Council of Women. By combining resources and outreach efforts, the campaign seeks to foster a safer environment for women during Carnival, as well as encourage victims to report incidents of harassment and seek help when needed.
